Magnus Stephensen Armchair with Seaweed Seat

About the Item

Magnus Stephensen for Cabinet maker Clausen, armchair, beech, woven seaweed, leather, Denmark, circa. 1933 This armchair is designed by Danish architect Magnus Læssøe Stephensen (1903-1984). The designer focused on the creation of a chair that combined functionality with an aesthetically pleasing layout for daily use. This unique design has a splendid construction that epitomizes a simplistic, natural and timeless aesthetics. The seat itself can be adjusted in its angle which allows the user to position the back in a desired position. The curved armrests gracefully develop into straight shaped legs that underline the essence of the design. The seat is executed in woven seaweed, which adds a rustic touch to the piece of furniture.
