Mid-Century Modern Upholstered Scoop Bentwood Armchair By Thonet

About the Item

Rare, mid-century modern, walnut bentwood armchair by Thonet features a curvaceous profile with the back and seat made from a single piece of bent walnut. The segmented yellow tweed upholstery appears on the seat, back and arms and follows the lines of the wood to accentuate it's curves. Thonet, a furniture manufacturing company that originated in Austria, has existed for 180 years. Thonet was the first to patent the bentwood furniture technique which has remained extremely popular ever since due to the beautiful sleek lines that can be achieved.
