Mid-Century Pair of French Tooled Leather Safari Campaign Armchairs
About the Item
Rare pair of mid century leather Safari armchairs.
French made, circa 1940s.
Offered here in original condition.
Dark brown leather, artfully tooled in ancient symbols, resting on solid oak frame structure.
The armchairs have tilted leather backrests and leather arm straps with brass rivets. The back of the leather backrest is lined in calico.
Fastens together with some very interesting French bed bolts, which completely dismantles for easy transport.
Easy to assemble/dismantle as the jointed bolts are marked with corresponding Roman numerals...See images.
Both chairs in great vintage condition, with some wear consistent with age.
There are several visible scuff marks to the leather, including an old repair to the calico fabric behind one of the backrests. Please see all photos.
This does not detract from it's use and charm. The leather remains in supple condition with great patina.
The oak frame remains solid and sturdy. The arm rest leather is without rips.
