Mid-Century Swallow Armchair, Designed by Julia Gaubek, Europe, 1960s

About the Item

Beautiful armchair in ginger boucle type fabric, designed by Julia Gaubek, a Polish architect, designer of Industrial Design and interior architecture, professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk. The armchairs were made in the 1960s in the Gosciecinska Furniture Factory. They are made from solid beechwood. The swallow type armchair is regarded one of the best Polish armchair design from the previous age. The armchairs have been thoroughly renovated. The tension belts have been changed, new upholstery foams. Upholstery fabric with a clear, thick weave with a visual antiquing effect. The color transitions of irregular weaves look like abrasions, and the colors themselves seem faded. The fabric can also be interpreted in the chanel style - combined with golden haberdashery accessories, add details in the form of pearl buttons or beads. This is a mixture of many types of fibers, which provides this fabric not only with an intriguing texture and appearance, but also perfectly balanced performance properties. For this armchair we used color ginger 09. We can prepare this armchairs also in another wood and fabric color.
