About the Item
florid wicker made during the Aesthetic movement. In the early 1900s the bungalow style of domestic architecture was taking hold in America and furniture styles changed as well. This Mission wicker armchair is a willow interpretation of the oak furniture made by Stickley, Limbert and other craftsman during the early 20th century. The angular framework, upright backrest, level skirting and vertical paired osiers maintain the characteristic Arts and Crafts straight lines.
