Model 5003, Rudolf Wolf, 1950. set of armchairs

About the Item

Amazing pair of minimalist and constructivist armchairs model 5003 for Elsrijk, The Netherlands, 1950 The solid steel rod frames are repainted but still have a bit of a patina. Two different colors of high quality wool fabric is used, set can be used as a two tone or switch it to a orange and a yellow. Rudolf Wolf (1919–1989) Rudolf was one of the important pioneers of Dutch modernism after the second world war. He studied architectural and graphic design, after which he went to work on the lighting division of Philips, before going freelance in 1948. Wolf only designed furniture for a period of 15 years for Elsrijk before devoting himself to being an artist making paintings and objects made of steel, aluminium and plexiglass.
