About the Item
Crafted in France circa 1870, this elegant pair of antique armchairs exudes timeless sophistication. Each large fauteuil stands on cabriole legs ending with hoof feet, connected by a sinuous “H”-shaped stretcher centered with a floral medallion. The apron is richly carved with a scalloped shell motif, while the arm supports and shoulder carvings display graceful acanthus leaf embellishments typical of the Louis XIV period.
Both chairs feature a square back and wide, deep seat for comfort, newly upholstered in a soft cream fabric adorned with a classic fleur-de-lis pattern and finished with decorative nailhead trim. The frames retain their original hand-painted light grey patina, gently rubbed to reveal hints of the wood beneath, adding warmth and authenticity.
These stately fauteuils are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and would lend refined French charm to a living room, library, or master suite.
