Pair of 19th Century English Lion Paw Chairs

About the Item

Wonderful Pair of 19th Century Lion Paw Chairs upholstered in a textured chestnut wool by Rose Uniake. Originally found in Egypt, lion paws on furniture represented strength, majesty, courage and fortitude. The excellence of the cabinet maker of the time is found in the carved lion heads on the ends of the arms which are exquisitely detailed. Delicate hand carved lion paws adorn the legs. Both regal and comfortable these chairs are a standout. Lion Paw chairs have evolved through out history and can be found from Egypt, to France and England and through out Europe and Asia.
