Pair of Antique Original Ticking Fabric Howard & Son's Chesterfield Armchairs

About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this once in a lifetime opportunity to own, very rare original near pair of Howard & Son's Berners street armchairs in the original distressed ticking fabric circa 1870-1880 Never again will you be able to buy this exact original near pair, there is only one set in the world and these are them, they have the period completely original ticking fabric which is 140-150 years old, both inside legs are fully stamped Howard & Son’s LTD Berners Street and with the serial numbers, all castors are original and fully stamped Howard & Sons London. All the original horse hair padding is present, they are super comfortable The chairs are totally original as mentioned, they have tonnes of wear and tear as you can see and expect given what they are, something is only ever original once, there will be plenty of "restored" versions of howard chairs out there, but none like this For those of you that are unaware of Howard & Son's chairs our late Queen had I think the largest private collection in the world, they are the finest hand made in England and most famous chairs in the world, highly collectable and extremely valuable, the more beaten up and original the better These chairs are very early models and with the very rare mahogany timber frames, one chair has turned front legs and the other tapered, otherwise they are pretty much the same with a slightly different width as detailed below Dimensions Height:- 78cm & 78cm Width:- 77.5cm & 74cm Depth: 67.5cm & 67.5cm Seat height:- 46cm & 46cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Pulborough warehouses Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description pertaining to the condition. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
