A Pair of Armchairs in the style of Halabala
About the Item
These sinuous and stylish armchairs are made in the style of Jindrich Halabala, a Czechoslovakian furniture designer and maker from Prague. Halabala was a design innovator very much influenced by the Bauhaus. His furniture was modern, original and utilized both traditional and industrial techniques and materials. Like the originals, these chairs feature solid beechwood arms that have been steamed and bent into shape. The seatbacks rake back dramatically, providing great comfort. The voluminous seat itself is both supportive and comfortable. Equally important, they have an amazing side profile, swept back and seemingly moving. The arms have been given a glossy coat of French polish.

Vintage Pair of Armchairs with Chrome Legs
Located in Chicago, IL
These petite lounge chairs have a low-slung design that looks Italian. In fact, they are Hungarian, dating to the late 1960s or 70s. In the post-war period, Hungarian luxury furniture production was sharply reduced and designs became very simplified, befitting a Socialist society. The best pieces were reserved for members of the party or cultural elites. These chairs have lightweight chrome-plated steel tube legs and angular shape which was inspired by Italian Brutalism...
