Art Deco emerged in the first half of the 20th century, flourishing in the 1930s as a glamorous and modern design movement blending luxury and functionality. Art Deco took inspiration from Art Nouveau, Cubism, Bauhaus, and ancient Egyptian and Aztec art - their influences visible through the bold geometric patterns characteristic of the Art Deco style. The movement epitomised the optimism of the interwar period. In furniture design, it introduced sleek, symmetrical shapes and beautiful embellishments, while symbolising progress and sophistication. This pair of 1930s Art Deco armchairs embodies timeless elegance and modernist sophistication.
