Pair of Biedermeier Armchairs

About the Item

Beautiful pair of Swedish Biedermeier chairs, or “carver chairs” in glowing, golden birch. The curved backs, shaped to a stylized Chapeau de Gendarme form, feature inlaid medallions of lyre and garland design in a soft gray stain. A horizontal splat connects the stiles, transitioning into elegantly carved arms. Currently the seats are upholstered in a Louis XVI-style striped and floral pattern that pairs nicely with the refinement of the chair. Front legs are squared and tapered, whereas the back two legs are a classic sabre shape. Please view the detailed images. Sold as a pair.
