Pair of Brazilian Midcentury Armchairs, Unknown Designer, Solid Rosewood, 1960s
About the Item
This pair of armchairs with slatted seats and backrests was manufactured in the 1960s, but the authorship is still in research by our team. Pieces are made of solid Brazilian Rosewood and recently reupholstered in gorgeous off-white nubuck leather by the experienced craftsmen in our team.
The armchairs present a rectangular angled design, showing beautiful diagonals in the armrests, the backrests, and the hind legs – slightly leaning back. The wood is permeated by veins and stunning color variations
The pieces are in very good vintage condition; the old varnish was partially removed (without sanding) and the piece received a thin layer of shellac.
Among the icons, there is a whole universe of craftsmen and small companies that embraced the modern design, with Brazilian materials and forms — well designed and quality furniture, still waiting to be known by the public.

This armchair is made of solid Brazilian Rosewood, with new upholstery in gorgeous suede leather. The armrests have a rectangular design with a back of vertical slats. This model features a delicate and still well-constructed use of this precious wood, which became very scarce with the passage of the years.
This piece received new upholstery in soft nubuck leather, but its structure in solid Rosewood remais in original condition.

The company was created in 1951 when Munis Zilberberg takes over the family business - a small upholstery workshop that worked on refurbishing sofa beds and antique furniture.
