Pair of Chinese Guanmaoyi Chairs

A matched 'facing' pair with yoke crest rails, humpback splats each with three medallions centered with a pierce-carved wild deer, flat raised edge panel seats, and arms with grips resembling the crest rail yoke form. The four rectangular straight legs have frontal scroll carved framing enclosures, with matched carved decoration on the center of each apron. The legs are joined each with five plain stretchers and a frontal footrest. Clearly not "imperial" chairs; they exhibit the bold Provincial aesthetic of the Qing dynasty likely made during the Tongzhi period (1862-1873).
