A pair of English period Regency steel and brass curule armchairs with swan motifs from the early 19th century. This pair of curule Regency chairs circa 1820 features an X-shape steel frame with four swans decorating the arms in a graceful downward movement. The X-frame reveals the neoclassical taste of the Regency period, showing a direct influence of ancient Rome where the curule chairs were first seen. The crescent-shaped legs are raised on four brass ball-and-claw feet, their golden tone contrasting nicely with the darker finish of the steel. The overall effect is one of grace, perfectly combined with subtle strength.
