Pair Of French Chairs Model "Bridge"

About the Item

We kindly suggest that you read the entire description, as with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to ensure the authenticity of our objects Elegant and seductive pair of French "Bridge" model chairs; they are made of a sturdy black lacquered wood; the whole frame is built to be solid and functional; the legs, compact and strong, have a slender and pleasing cabriole design; the arms are curved and high to give more space for seating; the backrest is very comfortable and placed at the right height for comfortable seating. They were created between 1948 and 1950 by a skilled master craftsman in Lyon, France; this French city was famous for producing high-quality furniture, including the "Bridge" chairs. We were fortunate enough to find them some time ago in the market in Villeurbanne, the "Citiè des Antiquaires" neighboring municipality of Lyon; the upholstery was badly damaged, so we had them upholstered and the seat upholstery completely reupholstered by an old craftsman from Florence who used a sturdy velvet with a fine mustard color. French "Bridge" chairs are a traditional type of chair named after the card game of Bridge, which is very popular in France; these chairs are famous for their elegant and refined design. They are made of solid wood with fine details; one of the main features of this type of chair is the high back, this peculiarity provides ergonomic support for the back and helps to provide comfortable seating during long games of Bridge or other sedentary activities. The seat of Bridge chairs is also generally padded to provide greater comfort (we repeat that in our chairs the seat padding has been reupholstered new). Some versions of these chairs may have armrests (like ours), which provide additional comfort and support for the arms during use. The legs often have a slight curvature, which lends elegance and stability to the structure. In addition to being used for playing Bridge, these chairs are also suitable for dining or as additional seating in different areas of the home. The restored chairs are in excellent condition. Measurements width cm.58, depth cm.53, height cm.84, seat cm.42. For all our shipments we use special packing materials (custom-made wooden crates, Styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the items

We kindly suggest that you read the entire description, as with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to ensure the authenticity of our objects. Elegant and refined pair of Italian armchairs; the strong frame is made of wood, the legs are painted black, and the seat is large, wide, and comfortable also thanks to the particular shape of the two large armrests; their design is energetic and compact. They were made between 1960 and1965 between Meda and Mariano Comense in Brianza (a prolific industrial and artisan area of Lombardy Italy) where there is a high production of designer furniture made with great craftsmanship. The armchairs have been restored and we have also upholstered them with Designer Guild's iconic and sophisticated velvet with a "Janneret" pattern with geometric cut and interlocking lines. One of the company's most popular fabrics. (see original Guild set photo). The entire work was handcrafted with skill and precision by an old Master craftsman from Prato (Italy). We would like to remind you that the city of Prato is considered the largest textile center in the world, its craftsmen and companies, highly specialized, are a benchmark for creativity, quality, and excellence.
