Pair of Hendrix Allardyce French Baroque Style Fauteuil Armchairs
About the Item
Opulent pair of grand fauteuil armchairs or throne chairs designed by Hendrix Allardyce Hollywood, CA. Known as Avignon chairs featuring large carved beech wood frames in the French baroque taste. Decorated with rocaille shell and acanthus carved motifs. Heavy and solid with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. The wood has an intentionally aged, distressed patina to mimic the age of 18th century pieces. The finish has old glazed paint remnants and amazing parcel gilt accents throughout. Each chair has generous seats with different stripe pattern upholstery and patinated brass tack nail heads. Provenance: From the estate of Stuart Moldaw, Atherton, CA.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. Beautifully crafted with strong and solid joinery. Each chair is upholstered with different striped fabric and gimp trim. Fabric is vintage with wear but still presentable. Age appropriate wear with an intentionally distressed patina on the finish.
