About the Item

A pair of Italian Baroque ‘poltrone’ or armchairs. Probably from the Umbria region, 17th century and later. Solid walnut with upholstered seat and backrest and remnants of the original velvet brocade. Walnut frame in cleated construction with turned feet and cross struts, forward curved, volute-like converging armrests and slightly raised backrest with curved end. The seat and backrest are upholstered. The cover was probably renewed in the late 20th century with a velvet cover to which remnants of the original velvet brocade (a patterned velvet with raised pile and woven ground) were attached. Dimensions Height: 128 cm / 50.39 inch. Width: 70 cm / 27.55 inch. Depth: 70 cm / 27.55 inch. Seat height: 53.5 cm / 21.06 inch. Good stable condition with slight signs of age-related wear including old woodworm channels (not active). The walnut wood has a very nice patina. Price is for the pair.

    Reupholstered. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor fading. Good stable condition with slight signs of age-related wear including traces of old woodworm. Old reupholstery, probably done in the late 20th century. The walnut wood has a very nice patina.
