About the Item

A pair of Chinese Qing Dynasty period lacquered elmwood armchairs from the 19th century, with carved splats, serpentine arms and stretchers. Created in China during the Qing Dynasty in the 19th century, each of this pair of elmwood armchairs features a back adorned with a carved splat showcasing a floral motif above a rectangular panel and a curved bottom. This back is connected to two serpentine arms resting upon a rectangular wooden seat with central panel. Each chair is raised on four straight legs accented with a carved apron in the front and a partial apron on the sides. The ensemble is strengthened by low stretchers of varying heights. The chairs boast a warm patina complimenting the lines beautifully.
