Pair of Simple Bridge Armchairs in Skai by Jean Nouvel, 1991

About the Item

Pair of Simple Bridge armchairs in skai by Jean Nouvel, 1991 When it comes to design, what we might expect from sculptors is actually more likely to come from architects. For what most often characterizes architectural design is its formal, sculptural force. Jean Nouvel is no exception. The Simple Bridge set in the Élémentaire collection was originally designed for the Centre International de Congrès Vinci in Tours in the early 90s. It was subsequently published twice by Ligne Roset, in the early 90s and again in 2011. Formally rigorous, Simple Bridge is nonetheless extremely comfortable. The apparent simplicity of the Simple Bridge conceals the prowess required for its execution: cutting, sewing and upholstery tolerate no approximation so that the rigorous edges of the seat remain perfectly straight.
