Rare 19th Century Black Forest Walnut Armchair by Horrix with Classy Upholstery
About the Item
Unique, impressively carved and very comfortable chair from circa 1870.
This unique chair is as strong and stable as the day it was made and the woodwork is in good to excellent condition also. The solid handcrafted nutwood frame comes with a variety of good quality carved, natural rustic elements that make this rare Black Forest chair the impressive antique that it is. This chair is marked and made by Horrix of the Hague (which also is the town where we acquired this antique). Horrix seized to exist in 1891 so any piece marked by this famous Dutch maker is always at least late 19th century. The wonderfully upholstered seat and back with its calm and stylish flowery pattern completes this rather majestic chair. You won't know for sure until you have tried it, but we have done so for you and besides being a beautiful and top quality chair, this prime example also is very comfortable to sit in. As you would expect from a top maker. Finally, this hand carved and entirely handcrafted antique has a beautiful patina and it radiates nothing but quality, stability and durability.
