Rare Shibayama Factory Child Armchair

About the Item

This extremely rare chair was handcrafted in the early 1900s by skilled Japanese craftsmen in the Shibayama Factory of Nagoya, Japan. This chair was vital in Charlotte Perriand’s study of Japanese design during her trip to Japan that inspired her line of bamboo furniture in the 1940s. circa 1930s Japan Maker: Shibayama Sangyo (Factory) Country of origin: Japan Material: Bamboo Dimensions: H 430mm SH 210mm SW 270mm W 350mm D 440mm Condition: There is a split on one of the rails of the backrest but it does not affect functionality. This is a vintage item so there are small scratches, marks, and signs of use. (Please see pictures for details).
