Sei poltrone laccate. Venezia, ultimo quarto del XVIII sec

About the Item

Gruppo di sei poltrone in legno di noce laccato avorio, dipinto e dorato. Schienale sagomato; i braccioli mossi sono intagliati con una foglia d’acanto, sia sulla presa sia nel sottobracciolo, quest’ultimo si sviluppa con un movimento a torsione e, lateralmente, la foglia termina in un ricciolo. Le gambe sono tronco-coniche, scanalate con piede a vasetto, abbellite da greca di perline e collegate alla fascia da elementi a gocciolatoio. Gli schienali sono decorati da un intreccio di nastri dipinti, i quali trattengono idealmente la greca fogliacea intagliata a essi parallela che delimita l’imbottitura; il motivo a nastro diventa un disegno di festoni azzurri appesi a galle rosse e con nappe dorate, sia sui braccioli che sui montanti e le fasce. Le parti intagliate sono dorate a guazzo. Questo gruppo di poltrone in legno laccato rientra nella produzione veneziana dell’ultimo quarto del XVIII secolo. Nonostante una struttura e un apparato decorativo composti di elementi puramente neoclassici, tra cui le gambe tronco-coniche, nastri, festoni, galle e gocciolatoi, presentano a livello strutturale il perdurare di qualche attributo riconducibile alla metà del secolo, come i braccioli estroflessi, caratteristici del gusto barocchetto. Infatti, anche quando cercherà di accostarsi ai modelli del neoclassicismo, il mobiliere veneziano non abbandonerà facilmente, come nel nostro caso, l’utilizzo di curve sinuose. Le gambe troncoconiche scanalate sono invece un chiaro elemento di rimando al mondo classico, architettonico. Una produzione similare è riscontrabile in due finimenti da salotto databili al medesimo periodo e conservati a Venezia presso la Fondazione Querini Stampalia. Il primo mostra analogie con le nostre sia a livello strutturale che nella decorazione, i braccioli sono ad esempio molto simili per forma ma anche per finitura, ad esempio si guardi alla foglia d’acanto intagliata nel sottobracciolo. Il secondo finimento presenta una decorazione dipinta di foglie e bacche unite fra loro come un lungo nastro ininterrotto che parla lo stesso gusto della pittura delle sedute qui descritte.
