About the Item

A handsome set of four Italian late 18th century Baroque st. walnut and giltwood armchairs. Each chair is raised by elegant lightly scalloped shaped supports at each side with elegantly turned supports at the front and square legs at the back. The front supports are connected by most decorative double turned stretchers while the back legs are connected by a square stretcher. The straight arms display a fine mottled border also supported by additional turned designs centering the striking red velvet seat with elegant fringe tassels and handsome brass nail heads. The back supports are also upholstered with red velvet and display richly carved foliate giltwood finials above. All original warm patina and gilt throughout. Seat Height: 21".
