Tubular Art Chair 'Frank' by Bradley Bowers

About the Item

Plush and comfortable, this chair is incredibly unique in its shape and feeling. It feels supportive and sturdy, and brings a subtle artistic flair to the living room. Additional information: Bradley Bowers’ 'Frank' hardly resembles a chair at all—there’s no obvious seat, and the tubular frame gives it a psychedelic pool noodle vibe. Yet the New Orleans-based designer obsessed over its ergonomics and optimized the central opening so it’s just big enough to rest without getting stuck. He also streamlined its diameter to be cushy but not bulky. The sense of mystery was intentional: “I don’t want someone to immediately understand how to use it,” Bowers says. “I want them to discover it, then realize how much they like it.” The sinuous, graceful lines of this chair embrace within a soft, yet muscular form. As shown upholstered in custom Maharam fabric, this piece can be specified in a customer's own material. About the Artist: Bradley L. Bowers' work explores the dynamic overlap between rapid-prototyping and artisanal craftsmanship. The studio uses contemporary digital-modeling tools in unison with traditional craft techniques to achieve objects and forms that redefine the norms. After earning honors and advanced degrees from the Savannah College of Art and Design, the Atlanta native founded his studio to bring the worlds of art and design together. He creates site-specific new media art installations, pop-up experiences, and bespoke pieces for fashion brands, art institutions, and private clients. As well as exhibiting work in Miami, New York, New Orleans, Atlanta, and Milan, his work is in a variety of permanent collections, both public and private.
