Danilo Silvestrin "Apollo 12" Sphere 1969 Gunther Lambert Ball Chair Space Age
By Günther Lambert, Danilo Silvestrin
Located in Munster, NRW
Danilo Silvestrin "Apollo 12" Sphere - 1969 for Gunther Lambert, Germany.
Extremely rare seating object for two persons.
Designed in 1969, consisting of two acrylic hemispheres which can be hinged together to form a sphere. Covers in silver-colored vinyl, handmade by our master upholsterer according to the original covers.
Diameter ca. 110cm when closed - H. 80 cm. D. 90 cm.
This object is one of 5 that were ever produced.
We rediscovered it after 25 years in a locked warehouse, the tattered hemispheres were refurbished by hand in hours of precision work by a specialist and now shine again in new splendor.
We have documented the restoration stages.
Danilo Silvestrin designed this icon of 1960s space design for his friend, the german photographer Lothar Wolleh. He furnished Wolleh's apartment, which functioned as a gallery for the works of his artist friends, with a variety of futuristic, transparent...
