Unique Jugendstil Arm Chair made in 1908
About the Item
This is a special arm chair designed by the owner and made by a furniture maker in India. Robert Haardt was the
owner and designer of this lounge chair. While travelling for his families business in India, ( enamelled metal
products ), he concentrated on developing an export market in Asia. Since he planned a longer stay in India
he had this chair made for his own personal use.
This chair was purchased from the Haardt family.
Later in life, Robert became fascinated with Columbus- Roll Globus . He was an avid collector and part of his
collection can be found in the Globe Museum in Vienna. He also published a book about Columbus-Roll Globus
and made exhibitions about them.
The chair has an adjustable back that is supported with a brass rod. The leg rests can be swung forward for a
comfortable Snooze . The textile pillows came with the chair. This is a very elegant chair in very good condition,
the schellack is original . The woven back is complete. If you have any questions just contact me.
