Vintage Italian Armchair Upholstered and Covered in Velvet Ottanio Color

About the Item

We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Comfortable upholstered armchair; the structure is very solid with black painted brass legs; the seat is large and comfortable; the general aspect is curvilinear with soft lines, perfect to convey a feeling of comfort and well-being; it was made between 1960 and 1964, the craftsmen who built it were able to put in this armchair the desire for renewal and optimism typical of those fabulous years, creating an object with an innovative, modern and unique design. The workshop where it was born ("Fabbrica Mobili Imbottiti" see label) was located at that time in Crusinallo di Omegna in Piedmont (Italy); in the last sixty years, Crusinallo has become the cradle of the industry, hosting in its territories very important companies such as F.lli Piazza, Alfonso Bialetti, Lagostina and Alessi. The armchair has been delivered, in recent times, to an old Master craftsman of Prato, who has handmade with skill and precision the new cover; we want to remember that the city of Prato is considered the largest textile center in the world, its craftsmen and companies, highly specialized, are a reference point for creativity, quality, and excellence. The Master has used a strong velvet with a very particular color: octanium. The color octanium takes its name from the blue and green hue characteristic of the Eurasian duck. Born in the late '50s, the color octanium first made its arrival in the fashion industry, through the combination of turquoise and petrol, and was later adopted by the design world for its versatility and pleasant aura. The color octanium, in fact, combines perfectly with other colors and lends itself to different styles of homes: from traditional to modern. In the world of color theory, teal represents communication and clarity of thought, a philosophy that can be incorporated into your life. Our armchair has taken on a personal and unrepeatable charm, becoming a discreet and original piece of furniture, capable of creating a quiet and peaceful atmosphere, giving romanticism and sophistication to any type of decor. Measures: width cm.73, depth cm.68, height cm.87, seat cm.39. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.

Elegant and refined pair of Italian armchairs; the strong frame is made of wood, the legs are painted black, and the seat is large, wide, and comfortable also thanks to the particular shape of the two large armrests; their design is energetic and compact. They were made between 1960 and1965 between Meda and Mariano Comense in Brianza (a prolific industrial and artisan area of Lombardy Italy) where there is a high production of designer furniture made with great craftsmanship. The armchairs have been restored and we have also upholstered them with Designer Guild's iconic and sophisticated velvet with a "Janneret" pattern with geometric cut and interlocking lines. One of the company's most popular fabrics. (see original Guild set photo). The entire work was handcrafted with skill and precision by an old Master craftsman from Prato (Italy). We kindly suggest that you read the whole description, as with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Very comfortable and elegant upholstered armchair; the frame is very solid with sturdy legs made of polished and brushed brass; the seat is deliberately low but large and comfortable; the wide overall appearance has soft and pleasing lines, perfect for conveying a feeling of comfort and well-being. The armchair was made between 1960 and 1963 by an artisan workshop in Meda (Milan, Italy) that collaborated with several Lombard architects; for the creation of the armchair, the artisans were inspired by architect Marco Zanuso, following his design. Marco Zanuso (1916-2001) was among the greatest interpreters of the culture of the modern, as an architect, designer, and university lecturer; he was one of the first designers to take an interest in the problems of product industrialization, going beyond the aesthetic question to incorporate technological, industrial, distribution and communication variables. The form of an object intended for serial reproduction, according to Zanuso, is thus a synthesis of opportunities, experimentation, and innovations located in the concrete process that links creativity, production, and sociocultural context. His countless creations include the Lady armchair, and the Antropus armchair...
