Vladimir Kagan sculptural lounge armchair for Weiman, USA, 1970s.

About the Item

Kagan’s choices of form and materials evolved through the decades, embracing lucite, aluminium and burl-wood veneers. By the late 1960s, Kagan was designing modest asymmetrical cabinets, modular sofas and chairs. Many of Kagan’s works are relatively rare as the distinctiveness of his works did not lend themselves easily to mass-production. Kagan believed that the main function of furniture was comfort, and the form would follow. This comfortable armchair features dramatic arches that form the arms and front legs. The upholstered seat is pronounced and inviting. The backrest and leg minimal and elegant. Recently upholstered in a luxurious ivory bouclé wool. In good condition.
