A William IV Oak Library Chair

About the Item

A highly original 19th century oak library armchair in the manner of J.c.Loudon. Raised on wonderful little brass and ceramic castors, untouched frame with the original Upholstrey exposed. An illustration of this chair design can be found in J.C. Loudon's Encyclopedia of Cottage, Farm and Villa Architecture and Furniture, 1833, fig. 1911, and most likely is derived from a design for a ‘Spanish’ chair by Gillows, circa 1823.
