19th C. American Empire Carved Rosewood Bench on Casters, Duncan Phyfe Style

About the Item

Handsome carved mahogany bench, dating to the early 1800s, in the manner of Duncan Phyfe. One side ornately carved, one side plain — likely intended to sit against a wall, under a window, between pillars, and so on.

    Repaired: Metal structural support bars are older but likely added after the bench was made. One leg has replacement piece of wood (see photos) repair cannot be seen from front side of piece. Reupholstered. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses.
