Balanço Bench by Rodrigo Ohtake, Brazilian Contemporary Design

$11,000

About

The Balanço bench was designed in 2019. The mix of materials is the differential in this line. While wood is used as a seat, a metal plate, thick and curved, raises the first material from the ground in a light way and with minimal contact, both with the floor and with the wood. Structure made of stainless steel and Cumaru Wood. One of a kind, single piece. Graduated at FAU / USP in 2009, with a period of studies at the Polytechnic of Milan, Rodrigo Ohtake is always in search of his own architectural style. Passionate about colors and free forms, he collaborated with architects Mario Biselli, Alvaro Puntoni, and Frenchman Patrick Jouin, in addition to working with his father, Ruy, from 2008 to 2016. In addition to working in the offices, he participated as a curatorial assistant in the exhibitions "Viver na Floresta", curated by Abílio Guerra, "O Coração da Cidade: Invention of Spaces" by Júlio Katinsky, and "Arquitetura Brasileira" seen by Great Photographers by André Corrêa do Lago, a cycle of Brazilian architecture exhibitions promoted by the Tomie Ohtake Institute between 2011 and 2013. As a curator, he maintained the partnership to set up the exhibition "Brasil: Modernismo as Tradição" for the Brazilian Pavilion at the 14th Bienal de Architecture of Venice, 2014. He also participated in the editions of the books Oscar Niemeyer: "100 anos, 100 Obras and Ruy Ohtake - Arquitetura ea Cidade", both by Ricardo Ohtake. Since 2006, he has been doing his own projects and in 2011 he opened the Rodrigo Ohtake Arquitetura e Design office.
