Baroque Chest in Solid Walnut - 17th century

About the Item

Baroque Chest in Solid Walnut - 17th century Era: 1600s Magnificent high-quality Baroque chest made entirely of solid walnut. This valuable antique piece of furniture, originating from Bergamo, is an excellent example of craftsmanship from the Italian Baroque period, appreciable for its workmanship and fine decorative details. In the center of the chest stands out a carving carved in solid wood, depicting a noble coat of arms, the hallmark of an important patron. The panels and the framed part of the front are panelled and inlaid with lighter wood essences, particularly maple, which creates an elegant color contrast with the warm shade of walnut. Also of particular note are the sculptural elements on the sides and on the feet, which depict finely carved anthropomorphic figures, a typical expression of Baroque aesthetics. The entire cabinet has a remarkable wood thickness of 4 cm, confirming its solidity and quality of construction. The locks and hardware are authentic to the period, a rare element that contributes to its historical value. The condition is excellent: it has never been restored and requires only minimal conservation work, ideal for those who wish to preserve the authenticity of the furniture.
