About the Item

Wrinkled steel bench by Omaha-based designer Christopher Prinz, who achieves this unusual texture by repeatedly creasing a thin sheet of steel, resulting in a strong, rigid, and unique form. Hidden leveling feet protect surfaces and ensure balance. Made to order in 6-8 weeks. Easily customizable and available in a range of both raw and polished finishes. Please note that pieces with polished finishes are priced higher due to the more laborious plating process that they require. Benches in the raw finishes are priced at $7500 and benches in the polished finishes are priced at $9500. CHRISTOPHER PRINZ is an Omaha-based designer seeking to expose extreme and rarely-visible possibilities of materials associated with manufacturing. His works are shaped using a repetitive, large-scale steel creasing technique, and finished with different combinations of electro-plated metals. Through this process, the material becomes terrain-like, bringing an expressiveness to these otherwise fairly mute industrial materials. Prinz received a BFA in Industrial Design from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2014.
