About the Item

Daybed or Table massive Pine Wood 1968 Les Arcs France attributed to Charlotte Perriand. Comes from a private collection in Paris, it is not certain that this is a design by Perriand. The elaborate workmanship with the finest joinery details, such as the dovetail joints of the corners and the elaborately crafted wooden joints of the leg crosspieces are absolutely worth mentioning here! Take a look at the detailed photos to get an impression... Charlotte Perriand designed the benches for the French ski resort Les Arcs in the 1960s and 1970s. These table-benches are an iconic example of her philosophy, combining functionality, modularity and a strong connection to nature. The benches are made from natural, robust materials such as wood and metal, making them both durable and environmentally conscious - Perriand often used pine wood to capture the warm, rustic aesthetic of the alpine environment. Clean, simple lines that strike a perfect balance between minimalism and functionality. They are often modular in design so that they can be adapted to different needs and room configurations. The low seat height and minimalist style make them look inviting and harmonious in living spaces. They were designed not only as seating, but often as multi-purpose furniture, e.g. as storage or part of a larger furniture system. Their compact design was ideal for the limited space available in the chalets and apartments in Les Arcs. The design reflects Perriand's preference for a natural integration of the furniture into its surroundings. The wooden surfaces harmonize with the alpine architecture.
