About the Item

This English oak backless bench from the late 19th century features two beautiful out-scrolled arms with carved motifs flanking a long rectangular upholstered seat. Paying great attention to details, the maker decorated the arms' back panels with stylized truncated shell motifs and medallions marking the corners of the seat rail. The piece is gently raised on four tapered legs with bun feet. The elegance of the lines, the beautiful patina of the oak and the new upholstery would make this English bench circa 1880 a wonderful addition to any home.
