About the Item

Exceptional, solid oak joint stool-bench from England, 1700’s, with stunning grain pattern to bring history and patina to any home. Joint stools were often made by apprentices as a test to their skill level. Restrained in design, this example offers a rectangular top of a single plank, in swirls of toffee and mahogany color animating the grain pattern. Overhanging edges are routed to a low slope. Evidence of hand carving, along with the expected patina from nearly three centuries of use is visible in the apron and four turned legs connected by stretchers. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, this bench is ready for your interior as seating, a display surface, or an unexpected coffee table. Please view the detailed images.
