About the Item
A charming and most elegant French 19th century Louis XV st. patinated and Giltwood bench/settee. This wonderful small scale settee is raised by four cabriole legs supported on foliate feet below impressive foliate mounts above. Stunning chutes lead up each leg and flow throughout the patinated green apron displaying a richly carved Giltwood seashell reserve flanked by foliate branches. The caned and scrolled sides are accented with bottom Giltwood acanthus leaves, while delicate chutes lead up the back support accented with foliate scrolls. The back support is adorned with additional foliate carvings and a central seashell reserve flanked by scrolls.
