This solid wood bench/coffee table by Geraldo de Barros for "Hobjeto" is a good example of the state of mind of Brazilian modernist designers. Its clean lines are resolutely modern, the right angles are softened by the subtle curves of the finishes, giving a particular tact. The watchwords are simplicity, functionality but also sensuality in the choice of materials, the wood giving warmth to a deliberately sober drawing.
More than just objects, Geraldo de Barros' pieces are all concrete manifestos for a utopian society based on a re-invention of space planning.
