German Carved Oak Settle with Curved Armrests, circa 1880

About the Item

A superb German carved oak settle. Featuring two bust finials on its straight crest rail and a high seat back intricately carved with scroll motif and floral leaf surrounding two carved scenic panels. The seat, which is flanked by curved armrests ending in carved lion handholds, opens to reveal the internal storage space. Carved panels to the lower front with Green Man embellishments surrounded by decoratively carved stiles sitting on shaped feet. German, circa 1880.
