Handmade tete a tete conversation sofa bench inspired by Rennie Mackingtosh

About the Item

This unique and one of a kind teet a tete Face to face or vis-a-vis seating arrangement in pearwood is designed by Menno Wieringa, who designed and built unique furniture in the 1970s -1990s under his own management and in his own workshop. This design was based on the designs of Charles Rennie Mackingtosh and built in the 1984. There was only one made. This piece is signed by the designer and the year of production. He kept it in his workshop all these years, but decided to seperate from it because his workshop was demolished and he retired. This kind of seating is a Victorian-era innovation, the “vis-a-vis,” meaning “face to face,” a chair designed for intimate conversation. Inviting as a centerpiece in a open area. The fabric is original and also very easy to refurbish, but also fits well to the greenish colour of the pearwood. size: 160 x 140 x 50 cm
