Italian Limestone Garden Bench with Carved Rosette Back and Scrolled Legs

About the Item

Hand-carved from Italian limestone, this lovely garden bench features a rosette carved into the seatback and three highly scrolled legs. Comprised of nine pieces of stone, the bench has a stone gray color with a wonderful patination of lighter gray and cream, with some white inclusions and a presence of lichen that add a dark brown hue in some areas. The seat back has been adorned with a beaded molding at top, above the central rosette that is inset within an open roundel and flanked by a pair of recessed geometrical carvings. A pair of deep-sloping volute arms, each topped by a pyramidical finial with several cavetto moldings, form beautiful ends to the seat which can accommodate three adults. The seat is embellished by a thick quarter-round molding and supported by three S-scroll legs with rectangular plinths. Our Italian limestone garden bench would make a fantastic addition to a veranda or outdoor setting, but can also be used indoors, such as in a grand foyer or landing. *For shipping and transportation purposes, the bench disassembles into nine pieces of stone (legs x3, seat, back, arms x2, and finials x2). During the installation process, we recommend mortaring the pieces for stability.*

Wear consistent with age and use. Very good condition. Intentional distress presented as minor nicks and rubs. Lichen accumulation, resulting in areas with a brown patination. Limestone can change colors with exposure to elements. Please contact us for photos of the current patina.
