About the Item

Seventeenth century bench from central Italy (Umbria/Tuscany). This type of furniture was frequently seen in noble residences and often the decorations reproduced the coats of arms of the family. Also in this case you can notice the coat of arms representing a crown with precious gems and a shield with heraldic references. Built in poplar wood and lacquered with fat tempera. It is a piece of furniture that has never undergone restoration work and the thick dark patina accumulated over time is still visible, thus testifying to its authenticity. An essay of cleaning was carried out by the restorer on the central part to highlight the excellent state of preservation of the underlying painting.
