About the Item

In the Sculptural Bench, carved out of wood, layers are applied in finishing phase, where impregnation of deep reddish-black pigment and brushed lacquer layer over layer gives its intensity on the work. Here, with each layer brushed by hand, the satin lacquer reveals the manual carves. Then again, the solid wood is placed in juxtaposition with the translucent glass volume. The series tells about her diversity of material she interconnects. Carved wood, casted white bronze, sheet metals, glass. While observing every piece in this body of work, they are 16‘layered’ through another meaning. The works are based on the idea of the assembly in layers within one single material yet continues through transitions into another materiality. Layer over Layer Sculputural Bench was part of the performance Exhibition "The Theater of Things" the show transformed the gallery into a domestic stage — an ever-evolving space shaped by the creative voices of seven designers. Each night, one of them slept in the space. Each morning, a journalist, curator, or critic joined for coffee and conversation — exploring what it means to live among collectible pieces. Inspired by radical gestures like Gianni Pettena’s La Casa all’Elba and Joseph Beuys’ Coyote performance, the exhibition is both lived experience and open dialogue. Limited edition. Standard production time is approximately 8–9 weeks once current stock is sold out. One piece available for immediate delivery. For projects involving multiple units, production time may vary.

Aroosh and Nitush Mahipal, the creative minds behind Nitush-Aroosh, were born and raised in New Delhi, India, amidst a vibrant cultural and artistic milieu. Their parents instilled in them a love of beauty and creativity from a young age, and they were fortunate to travel extensively to different parts of the world, where they were exposed to diverse forms of art, design, and architecture. From childhood, Aroosh and Nitush were captivated by the stainless steel available at their family’s factory, spending countless hours creating their toys and honing their skills. This fascination laid the foundation for their future design and art endeavors, eventually leading to the birth of Nitush-Aroosh. The Mahipal brothers use innovative techniques to create a crumbled effect on stainless steel, resulting in sculptural pieces that appear to be made of a different material altogether. Their sculptural objects, including furniture, lights, sculptures, and wall installations, are carefully crafted to invite the viewers to embark on self-discovery and introspection. The Mahipal brother’s maiden international art exhibition at the Marbella Art...
