Mahogany Betty Boop Bench, Olivia Version, by Mark Levin A Symphony of Curves. The Olivia Version of the Mahogany Wood Betty Boop Bench is from Mark Levin’s Profile Series, where the underpinning design concept is kindred to cutting a slice of bread from a loaf to the desired thickness. Fabrication of the Betty Boop Bench is from joining three large rectangular blocks of laminated Mahogany. The walnut slip-tenons joining the three blocks give the Betty Boop Bench its strength with a load capacity of approximately 250 pounds. The linear architecture of the red oak slip tenons tastefully offset the superbly attenuated curves. The outline of the bench is bandsawed to shape with any minor surface hills and valleys gently coaxed to flawless velvety curves with various angle grinders, sanders, and files. The final step is to wet-sand the Danish oil into the wood, providing a wonderous glowing finish that’s easy to maintain.
