About the Item
A Rare, Elegant and Timeless Midcentury Modern Neoclassical X Form Bench in the style of the French 1930's master, Jean-Michel Frank, The piece reflects the elegance and purity of French Modern Neoclassical style and its heritage in Greek and Roman Design. The central motif of the piece are the pair of X-Form Legs which emanate from a cruciform square block. Each leg structure is strongly carved and also gently tapers. A wide seat sits between the hardwood leg structures. The total composition conveys a unique sensibility of royalty and simplicity. The piece will add a refined and sophisticated aura to any interior.
Jean Michel Frank was the most influential decorator in France during the 1930 period. His work was focused on classicism and minimalism which is prominent in this bench. Many other significant artists contributed to Frank's practice including Alberto and Diego Giacometti.
