This vibrant sunshine yellow powder-coated tubular steel bench by New York-based design practice JUMBO NYC is an exceptionally durable two-seater bench made in the form of a metal fence panel, or police barricade, that has been contorted into a the form of a bench. Approaching the design with the intent to make a statement, it suggests unity in something initially meant to divide. In a world where design meets activism, Jumbo’s creations are not just chairs; they are statements, provocations, and celebrations of the unexpected. Through their innovative use of materials and design choices, JUMBO continues to shape the conversation around functional furniture, proving that every seat can tell a unique story.
Titled "Barricade Bench," this piece is the first of an edition of 8 with 1 artist proof. The incredibly sturdy bench is suitable for outdoor placement, and would be an instant conversation starter in your garden or patio.
About the Designers:
JUMBO NYC is a design practice that consists of Justin Donnelly, Monling Lee, and Chris Campbell. Together, they produce objects and environments that are guided by an ongoing interest in reductivism and whimsy. As a result, Jumbo’s projects are both technical in execution and joyful in approach. Jumbo has exhibited in New York, Stockholm, Venice, Milan, Buenos Aires, and has been featured in the New York Times, T Magazine, Dezeen, Disegno, and Elle Decor.
