About the Item
A pair of remarkable vintage Italian Regency style custom upholstered window benches. The benches feature figural carved upright arms with arched tops supported by an impressive pair of figural carved and gilt finished eagle heads with finely rendered feathers.
The long seats rails are decorated with center brass rosettes flanked by scrolls and palmettes. Raised on square tapering legs decorated with brass rosettes at the tops and the sides and end in gilt ball feet. Custom upholstered in dusty teal tone velveteen with brass nail head trim.
Dimensions: 31 1/2" long x 19 1/4" deep x 27 1/2" high, 19 1/2" seat height.
Condition: Please review the detail photos. Various signs of age and use in include one bench with a stable age crack to one leg, darkened gilt ball feet, and fading to the tops of the arms. The second bench gilt feet have some spots and two legs' top rosettes are missing. There are some scrapes to most leg edges. The upholstery is very worn with faded areas and stains and despite the wear the pair present in an admirable and very decorative manner.
