The Charpai daybed is a Minimalist, multifunctional interior highlight with a clear, contemporary feel. It is inspired by the traditional Indian charpoy, used for sitting or reclining. Charpai is made of solid oak and finished with natural oil or open-pore lacquer. With a range of colors to choose from and three flat cushions to arrange as required, it is easy to make Charpai your own. The cushions can be covered in a choice of hard-wearing, high-quality fabrics and leathers. With various colors to choose from, they can also be used to set an accent in the room. A special coating on the underside of the fabric keeps them firmly in position, and they can also be used as a backrest if Charpai is positioned against a wall. Measuring 200 x 70 cm, the elegant, purist daybed is an open invitation to take a power NAP, but it can also be used as a bench or for storage in hallways, to seat guests in the living room, or — with the upholstery removed — as a generous side table for magazines and books. Aroosh and Nitush Mahipal, the creative minds behind Nitush-Aroosh, were born and raised in New Delhi, India, amidst a vibrant cultural and artistic milieu. Their parents instilled in them a love of beauty and creativity from a young age, and they were fortunate to travel extensively to different parts of the world, where they were exposed to diverse forms of art, design, and architecture. From childhood, Aroosh and Nitush were captivated by the stainless steel available at their family’s factory, spending countless hours creating their toys and honing their skills. Timber Mazer Bench by Tom Fereday Dimensions: W 190 x D 45 x H 50 cm Materials: Solid Oak & Walnut. MAZER COLLECTION: Mazer represents a series of geometric sculptures, each a celebration of the fundamental beauty and natural variation of stone. Strict brutalist forms of the table and seating collection are juxtaposed by soft organic cutaways carving through the porous stone surfaces, revealing the natural beauty and character of travertine. Named after the medieval term ‘Mazer’ meaning bowl, the collection presents subtle organic forms proportioned for table and seating function designed for permanence. Porous formations of the stone’s structure act as an intentional disruption to the clean geometric forms of the series adding character and intrigue. The limited edition series was crafted from travertine and locally produced in Italy from a combination of machine and traditional hand made processes, each piece exhibiting its own unique characteristics and form with no one piece alike. Mazer is designed by Australian designer Tom Fereday exemplifying Fereday’s desire to honour materiality, combining form and function to produce enduring works. Tom Fereday develops products based on the principle of honest design, conveying a design process which celebrates the materials and manufacturing processes behind furniture and products, to design from the inside out. By using the materials and environment as a positive design constraint we guide intelligent and thoughtful design outcomes which connect with people through natural materials, tactile finishes and unique design. We strive to create enduring designs which are meaningful to people and their environment. Born in Australia, Tom Fereday grew up in England studying at the Wimbledon School of Art before moving to Sydney to complete an honours in Industrial Design at the University of Technology Sydney. Working across europe and Australia Tom Fereday went onto found his sole practice in 2012.
