About the Item

Plank is a modern interpretation of the old- English settle, with a deep seat and a high back giving an inviting sense of enclosure. The settle is available in 3 sizes (1.2m, 1.8m and 2.4m) in sealed raw timber (choose between oak, ash or douglas fir), or alternatively hand-painted in a choice of seven colors, in either full gloss, or a contrasting combination of gloss and matt eggshell. Customers can accessorise their Plank with a utilitarian, hand-stitched leather storage bag, a hand-stitched leather seat cushion with a British wool felt base and feather filler, both by leather worker Otis Ingrams, or a canvas seat cushion in green. At the top end of our customisation options is a hand-lacquered finish by historical paint and lacquer specialist Pedro da Costa Felguieras. Utilising his specialist skills, Pedro will create a one-off art piece unique to the customers specifications, please get in touch for individual quotations. The collection was conceived in partnership with stylist Sue Skeen and The New Craftsmen. All 5 shapes are produced in the British Isles; the benches and tables by bespoke furniture makers Inglis Hall in Sussex and the chair by Sitting Firm chair makers in Coventry. Drawing on our network of makers with specialist skills, collaborators providing customisable finishes include paint and lacquer specialist Pedro da Costa Felgueiras, leather worker Otis Ingrams, rush weaver Felicity Irons, and mosaicist Giulia Manzoni in collaboration with JW Restoration.
